Musical Instruments

The Ankhai Tribe have their own range of musical instruments they play as music plays a part in their culture. They use items they can find to help produce their instruments and there are a few instrument makers who may specialise in specific instruments. But normally they can make from hair, skin, wood and gut.

These are all based off of Tuvan instruments.

Igil

An igil is a fiddle and it is very similar to the Morin Khuur you find on the steppe, however the strings are reversed and the body is tear shaped and does not sound identical and is typically tuned differently.

Doshpuluur

A doshpuluur is a 3 stringed lute. It often has a box shape, like a Morin Khuur does and may resemble one on first glance, but it is plucked and strummed and not bowed.

Chadagan

A chadagan is a zither, which is comparable to a Guzheng, Yatga or Koto, but can sometimes be smaller in size. It is played in a similar way.

Shoor

A shoor is a end-blown flute that's played at the side of your mouth, it is quite whispy in sound. It has three finger holes and is said to be able to imitate the sounds of water, animals and birds.
