Ankhai Music & Magic

The Ankhai worship Nhaama and Azim, like the Xaela of the steppe do and they also pray to the spirit of the mountain, Khatungarid and their beliefs are deepseated in animism. For them, Azim nourishing the land and all things on it and Nhaama created the stars to guide her children.

Little is known about Ankhai magic aside from to the Ankhai, but one Sharlayan scholar had learned about it in his travels. His name is Oka'to Zaasu. He is a professor in Astrology and was researching Astrology in lands outside of Sharlayan and beyond even Ishgardian practices. His travels had curiously led him to Xaela who practiced something similar and learned more of an unknown tribe who helped them hone their skill, the Ankhai.

His study was incomplete and he was unable to successfully track down the Ankhai, but it was not a dead end, as it was him who guided the two Hotgo that discovered an Ankhai camp. He likened their magic to Astrology and Geomancy, which is a relationship already known to Sharlayan.

However, where it varies and is less known, is how music plays a part into the Ankhai's practices. It is because they play music in tribute to the environment around them, atttune with the songs of nature and have songs for each landmark. This not only helps with navigation, but allows them to draw on the strengths of things around them, be it from the land or stars.

In a practical sense, it is the same as Geomancy/Conjury and Astrology, but how they interface with it, their beliefs and practices carry a more spiritual context.
